Investors take 30% of e-Platform
Brazilian bank Unibanco, Brasil Warrant Venture and Zip.Net VP Marcos de Moraes have taken a combined 30% stake in Brazilian incubator e-Platform Venture Partners for an undisclosed amount.
E-Platform will use the funds to expand the incubator´s B2B, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and broadband activities, according to e-Platform co-founder Anibal Messa. E-Platform has launched Brazilian search engine and price comparison site BuscaPe and is developing two B2B ventures.
E-Platform´s model is similar to that of US incubators IdeaLab, CMGI and Internet Capital Group (ICG), with e-Platform ventures remaining a independent company controlled by their respective owners. The incubator works management on a daily basis, and provides infrastructure, strategic suppport, technology and marketing advice.
Unibanco and Brasil Warrant Venture are owned by the Moreira Sales group.
